NNPCL slashes fuel price again

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has once again adjusted the pump price of premium motor spirit (PMS), reducing the cost of petrol across its retail outlets in Abuja. Checks by DAILY POST on Monday morning showed that the state-owned oil company lowered the price to N815 per litre from the previous N835, representing a N20 reduction.

Findings revealed that the new price has already taken effect at several NNPCL filling stations within the Federal Capital Territory, including outlets located in Wuse Zones 6 and 4, along the Keffi–Abuja Road, and on the Kubwa Expressway. Motorists were seen purchasing fuel at the revised rate as early as Monday morning.

An attendant at one of the affected filling stations, who spoke to DAILY POST on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the price adjustment was implemented on Sunday evening. The attendant, however, did not provide details on the reason behind the latest reduction.

Despite the decrease, the NNPCL pump price remains significantly higher than that of some privately operated stations. Notably, MRS filling stations backed by the Dangote Refinery are currently selling petrol at N739 per litre nationwide, making NNPCL’s price N79 higher. The price difference continues to influence consumer patronage across filling stations.
