NNPC says strike caused 283,000 barrels per day oil loss, 1.7 bscf of gas and over 1,200 MW power shortfall.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has confirmed sharp losses in oil, gas and power supply following the two-day strike by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).
Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, said in a letter to regulators that within 24 hours of the strike, production deferments stood at 283,000 barrels per day of oil, 1.7 billion standard cubic feet of gas and more than 1,200 megawatts of power generation.
“This equates to around 16 per cent of national oil output, 30 per cent of marketed gas, and 20 per cent of electricity generation,” Ojulari noted.
He added that key assets including Shell’s Bonga FPSO, Oben gas plant and Nigeria LNG were affected, with delays at major export terminals raising demurrage risks.
