Tinubu Urges Senate To Amend Constitution For State Police
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday night formally urged the Senate to begin amending the 1999 Constitution to provide for the establishment of state police, declaring that Nigeria must urgently restructure its security architecture to tackle terrorism, banditry and insurgency.
He made the call during an interfaith breaking of fast with Senate leaders at the State House, Abuja, stressing that decentralised policing has become imperative in confronting rising insecurity across the country.
Acting IGP Disu Pledges Professionalism, Accountability
The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has pledged to anchor his tenure on professionalism, accountability and community partnership. He assured President Bola Tinubu of his resolve to reposition the Nigeria Police Force for greater efficiency and public trust.
Disu said his leadership would focus on restoring discipline within the ranks and strengthening collaboration with communities to improve intelligence gathering and public confidence in policing nationwide.
Tinubu Extends Ban On Raw Shea Nuts Export For One Year
President Bola Tinubu has approved a one-year extension of the ban on the export of raw shea nuts to deepen local processing and strengthen Nigeria’s industrial base.
The renewed ban, running from February 26, 2026, to February 25, 2027, was announced in a statement on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.
