Fire Disrupts International Flights At Lagos Airport

A fire outbreak on Monday disrupted operations at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, forcing several foreign airlines to divert inbound flights. Affected carriers reportedly included British Airways, Lufthansa and Emirates, with flights redirected to Abuja and neighbouring countries.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria confirmed that emergency responders swiftly contained the blaze and that no casualties were recorded. Authorities said investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing as efforts continue to restore normal operations.


Tinubu Tells Governors ‘Time For State Police Has Come’

President Bola Tinubu has told state governors that the time has come to establish state police as part of efforts to tackle insecurity nationwide. He urged governors to intensify collaboration in confronting banditry, terrorism and other criminal activities.

El-Rufai Files ₦1bn Suit Against ICPC, Others Over Abuja Home Search

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has filed a ₦1 billion fundamental rights enforcement suit against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission and three others over the alleged unlawful search of his Abuja residence.

In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/345/2026 before the Federal High Court, Abuja, El-Rufai asked the court to declare the search warrant “null and void for lack of particularity, material drafting errors, ambiguity in execution parameters, overbreadth, and absence of probable cause thereby constituting an unlawful and unreasonable search.”


Army General Survives Ambush As Troops Kill Five In Kebbi

The General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Major General Bemgha Koughna, has survived an ambush by suspected Lakurawa terrorists near Mayama Hill in Kebbi State. The attack occurred while his convoy was en route to visit frontline troops.

The Nigerian Army said troops repelled the assault with superior firepower, neutralising five suspected terrorists and recovering weapons. The military reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating criminal elements across the country.


Plateau Youths Block Highway Over Killing Of Nine

Youths in Dorowa Babuje, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Monday blocked the Jos–Shendam highway to protest the killing of nine community members by gunmen.

The victims were reportedly attacked Sunday night at a bar along the highway. The protest drew women and sympathisers who demanded justice, as security agencies moved to restore calm in the area.


Three Killed In Cult Clash In Bayelsa

Three persons were killed in a violent cult clash at Igbogene suburb of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, on Sunday night.

Residents reported hearing gunshots in different parts of the area, sparking panic. Security operatives were deployed to restore order, while investigations into the incident commenced.


US Adds 19 Nigerians To Deportation List

The United States Department of Homeland Security has added 19 more Nigerians to its deportation list, bringing the total number processed for removal to 113 in the past 21 days.

Four Women Die, 26 Injured In Yola–Mubi Road Crash

Four women were killed and 26 others injured in a motor accident along the Yola–Mubi Road on Monday evening.

The Deputy Chairman of Song Local Government Area, Donan Prambe, said the victims were travelling to the Annual Convention of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria in Demsa Local Government Area when the crash occurred. Emergency responders conveyed the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.
