INEC Says 2027 Elections May Not Be 100% Perfect

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, has said the commission cannot guarantee a 100 per cent perfect election in 2027, particularly regarding electronic transmission of results.

Amupitan spoke on Sunday at a Citizens’ Townhall Meeting organised by the Civil Society Network on Election Integrity at Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja, noting that while INEC has the capacity for electronic transmission, real-time perfection cannot be assured.


Presidency Denies Alleged Plot To Poison Tinubu

The Presidency on Sunday dismissed viral social media claims alleging that a kitchen staff member at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa was arrested for attempting to poison President Bola Tinubu.

The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, refuted the allegation via his verified X account, describing the circulating video as entirely false and misleading.


IMN Protests Alleged Killing Of Iran’s Supreme Leader

Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), led by Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, on Sunday staged protests across Gombe, Niger, Kano, Bauchi, Yobe and Sokoto states.

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have killed eight Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents during coordinated attacks on multiple communities in Borno State.

The operations, conducted between February 28 and March 1, 2026, targeted Forward Operating Bases at Mayanti, Gajigana and Gajiram, with troops recovering RPGs, firearms and an armed drone.

The Joint Task Force Gwarzo, led by troops of 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, has foiled an attempted cattle rustling attack at Mainika village in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State.

Spokesperson of the 3 Brigade, Babatunde Zubairu, said the bandits suffered heavy casualties during the engagement.


NDLEA Arrests Alleged Drug Kingpin After 13 Years

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a suspected drug kingpin, Reginald Peter Chidiebere, after 13 years in hiding.

The arrest followed the seizure of large consignments of cocaine and heroin linked to him at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, according to NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi.

Police Arrest Suspect Over Killing Of Ondo Youth Leader

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with the killing of a youth leader in Isua Akoko, headquarters of Akoko South East Local Government Area.

The victim, Ojo Abbey, popularly known as Obesere, was allegedly abducted by gunmen while returning to the community from Edo State.
