Several petroleum products depot owners and marketers in Nigeria have raised ex-depot petrol prices following reports of a planned shutdown of the Dangote Refinery’s petrol unit for maintenance and upgrades.
A check by DAILY POST on Saturday showed that major depots now sell petrol at around N800 per litre, up from between N740 and N780. Ranoil, Optima, AYM Shafa and others recorded the increases, while Dangote and Aiteo sold at N702 and N740 per litre respectively.
The hike has been linked to the anticipated turnaround maintenance at the Dangote Refinery. Explaining the plan, Dangote Industries Vice President, Devakumar Edwin, said, “In most departments, our production levels have gone beyond 100 percent. We just need to remove constraints to raise overall output.” Retail prices ranged from N739 to N910 per litre nationwide.
