Army promotes 28 officers to rank of Major General, 77 to Brigadier General

The Nigerian Army has promoted 28 officers to Major General and 77 to Brigadier General, with Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu congratulating them and emphasizing professional duty and unwavering loyalty.

The Nigerian Army has announced the promotion of 28 officers to Major General and 77 to Brigadier General, following approval by the Army Council on November 27. Army spokesperson Lt. Col. Apollonia Anele listed the newly elevated officers, including Brig Gen ZA Saidu, who was promoted posthumously, and dozens of Colonels who advanced to Brigadier General.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, congratulated the officers and their families, charging them “to intensify their professional drive and prove beyond doubt that their elevation is well-deserved.” He further directed them to “demonstrate exemplary leadership” and pursue “bold, innovative, and unconventional solutions” to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges. The COAS reminded them to uphold their oath to defend the nation’s territorial integrity, stressing that “their loyalty to the Constitution must remain absolute, unwavering, and beyond reproach.”
