Three Nigerians detained in Saudi Arabia since August 2025 have been released after being cleared of drug trafficking charges. Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Ministry confirmed they were victims of a criminal syndicate that planted contraband in their luggage.
Following diplomatic intervention by Nigeria’s Consulate in Jeddah and an investigation involving the NDLEA, Saudi authorities exonerated the trio. Two have returned to Nigeria, with the third’s repatriation currently being finalized after his travel ban was lifted.
