According to Numbeo’s 2025 mid-year ‘Quality of Life Index,’ Nigeria ranks last out of 89 countries with an index score of 15.6, falling far below nations like Venezuela, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Egypt despite their political and economic turmoil.
The report, which assesses well-being indicators such as safety, healthcare, climate, and cost of living, highlights Nigeria’s worsening conditions under President Bola Tinubu’s “aggressive economic policies,” which critics say have further strained living conditions.
The country has also faced a surge in insecurity, including a televised church attack in Kwara and the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi and Niger within nine days. Meanwhile, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Denmark top the global rankings, with scores exceeding 216 points.
