Nigeria Police Academy disburses N408m to over 15 firms for projects labeled ‘none’

The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, has come under scrutiny after payment records revealed it spent N408 million between October and December 2024 on transactions vaguely described as “None.”

The Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State, spent at least N408 million on payments described simply as “None,” according to records obtained by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ).

The transactions, made between October and December 2024, went to more than 15 companies, in apparent violation of transparency rules requiring clear descriptions of government expenditures. FIJ noted that the pattern of entries marked “None” appeared deliberate, as many of the same companies also received properly documented payments for other items.

The report found that most of the questionable payments occurred in October, with October 30 recording the highest disbursements. Thames and Hudson Architects Ltd received N60.5 million, Absolute Quant Consult Ltd got N58.6 million, Affordium Enterprises received N40.6 million, while Askaub Integrated Services Nig. Ltd and Joetex Standard Company Nig. Ltd were paid N25.4 million and N25.8 million respectively.

Efforts by FIJ to obtain comments from the academy were unsuccessful as calls and messages went unanswered.
