NFF counters Taribo West, says it supported families of Late Super Eagles legends

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has rejected claims by Taribo West that it abandoned the families of late Super Eagles legends Peter Rufai and Christian Chukwu, insisting it provided financial and moral support

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has responded to allegations by former Super Eagles defender Taribo West that it neglected late goalkeeper Peter Rufai during his burial. In a statement on Friday, the NFF said it supported the families of Rufai and fellow legend Christian Chukwu with financial assistance and official representation.

“In support of the burial rites of Christian Chukwu, the NFF provided financial assistance to his family, and was represented by Executive Committee Member Chief George Aluo, Barr. Okey Obi, and Mr. Chikelue Iloenyosi. Similarly, at the funeral mass of Peter Rufai in Lagos, the NFF also offered financial support to his family,” the federation stated.

The NFF stressed that it “honoured their service, celebrated their legacy, and extended continued support to their families.”

West had earlier accused the federation and Lagos State Government of abandoning Rufai’s family, saying, “I will never advise even my son to put his feet for this country.”
