Newborn baby goes missing from Ekiti hospital

The disappearance reportedly occurred in the early hours while medical staff on duty attempted to attend to the baby, only to find she was missing.

Tension enveloped Okeyimi Health Centre in Ado Ekiti after a newborn baby mysteriously vanished from the facility on Monday, less than 24 hours after birth.

The disappearance reportedly occurred in the early hours while medical staff on duty attempted to attend to the baby, only to find she was missing. The development caused panic, leaving the mother, her relatives, and hospital workers in shock.

Sources revealed that both the mother and some staff, including a security guard, were taken into custody for questioning as part of preliminary investigations. Efforts to reach the hospital’s management for comment were unsuccessful.

Confirming the incident, Ekiti State Police Command spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, said four suspects had been arrested.

“The Commissioner of Police has directed the State CID to thoroughly investigate the case and ensure that the missing baby is found,” Abutu stated. “So far, four persons have been arrested and are currently providing useful information.”
