Senator Ali Ndume has urged President Tinubu to issue an executive order, even “acting like a dictator,” to end the Dangote-PENGASSAN dispute
Borno South Senator, Ali Ndume, has urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene decisively in the ongoing dispute between Dangote Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN). The crisis escalated after PENGASSAN ordered a strike on Saturday following the sack of 800 workers by the refinery.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Monday, Ndume said Tinubu should consider issuing an executive order to end the industrial action. “The best thing is for the president to sign an executive order calling them off. He has the right to dissolve them. In this case, I don’t mind if he acts like a dictator because some situations require very drastic measures,” he stated.
Ndume accused the oil workers’ union of pursuing private interests rather than the public good. He reiterated his opposition to “so-called unionism” that benefits a few individuals at the expense of national progress.
