The NCAA says Ibom Air’s swift legal action led to Comfort Emmanson’s remand, while ValueJet chose not to prosecute Kwam 1 over a separate flight disruption.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has defended differing outcomes in two recent in-flight incidents involving Comfort Emmanson and Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde, aka Kwam 1.
NCAA spokesman Mike Achimugu told Channels TV that Ibom Air “immediately activated its right” to prosecute after Emmanson allegedly assaulted crew on a Uyo–Lagos flight, leading to her remand at Kirikiri Prison and a lifetime no-fly ban.
In contrast, ValueJet “did not activate its rights” against Kwam 1, accused of delaying a flight on August 5, prompting the NCAA to issue an indefinite ban pending investigation.
Achimugu urged witnesses from the Ibom Air flight to come forward, stressing fairness but warning unruly conduct will not be tolerated. NCAA officers will investigate the incident and review security gaps.
