Nasarawa: Police bust organ harvesting ring, rescue four

Nasarawa State police have arrested a 40-year-old man, Maro Ebojoh, for allegedly luring four victims with a promise of N2 million each for their kidneys, rescuing one from Abuja after a planned transplant was aborted.

According to a report from PEOPLES GAZETTE , police in Nasarawa State have arrested a suspect involved in an organ-harvesting racket and rescued four potential victims.

Commissioner of Police Shettima Muhammad announced that Maro Ebojoh, 40, was apprehended at a motor park in Lafia on Monday after officials raised the alarm.

The commissioner stated the suspect “arrived in Lafia to allegedly recruit organ donors for an immediate kidney transplant,” luring the victims with a promise of N2 million each.

One victim was taken to Abuja for the procedure, but it was aborted over blood pressure concerns. “Operatives of the command swiftly moved to Abuja and rescued the victim unhurt from a hotel where he was being lodged,” Muhammad said.

The suspect confessed to the crime, agreeing to receive N6.5 million from his client, of which he had already collected N500,000. “He further confessed to having procured a donor for another client two months ago, for which he received N1 million, while the donor was paid N2.5 million,” the CP added.

In a related development, police also arrested nine suspects for armed robbery and the killing of a police officer’s son.

The CP urged residents to remain vigilant, stating, “Say something when you see something.”
