Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has described his son Abba Abubakar’s decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a personal choice, saying it should not be a source of concern. Atiku made the clarification in a statement issued on Thursday via his official X handle.
He noted that political decisions taken by family members are common in a democratic system, even when such choices differ from those of their relatives. According to him, the intersection of family ties and politics does not make such decisions unusual or alarming.
Atiku stressed that he does not interfere with the political conscience of his children or any Nigerian. He said that as a committed democrat, he believes in freedom of choice and does not coerce anyone, including members of his family, on matters of political affiliation.
