Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is seeking full custody of his one-year-old son, Romulus, amid renewed tensions with conservative commentator Ashley St. Clair, the child’s mother. The development follows public remarks by St. Clair expressing regret over past statements she said may have caused harm to Musk’s transgender child, Vivian Wilson, the tech executive’s estranged 20-year-old daughter and a vocal critic of her father.
St. Clair, who had a public fallout with Musk after the birth of their child in September 2024, has since aligned herself with Wilson. The dispute between St. Clair and Musk intensified in January after she alleged that X, the social media platform owned by Musk, restricted her access to premium features following her threat of legal action. She claimed the platform allowed images of her taken when she was 14 years old to be altered using artificial intelligence.
On Sunday, St. Clair posted a cryptic message on social media criticising what she described as “dark woke” influences, prompting a user to question her past remarks about transgender people. In response, St. Clair said she felt “immense guilt” over her previous views, adding that she regretted any pain her words may have caused Wilson. She said she had been trying privately to educate herself and advocate for members of the transgender community she believes she had hurt.
