Bishop Emmanuel Ande says the United Methodist Church Nigeria does not support same-sex marriage, attributing the claim to internal disputes while praising reconciliation efforts in Taraba State
The Bishop of the United Methodist Church Nigeria, Emmanuel Ande, has clarified that the church does not support same-sex marriage, describing claims suggesting otherwise as false. Speaking during a reconciliation service at the UMCN cathedral in Jalingo, he said the narrative emerged from internal disagreements over leadership and property ownership.
Ande commended Agbu Kefas for facilitating reconciliation and reopening UMCN churches across Taraba State after a decade-long crisis. He added that the church is mobilising members for voter registration ahead of the 2027 elections, while the governor urged Christian denominations to remain united for peace and evangelism.
