Melania Trump has threatened to sue Hunter Biden for more than $1bn if he does not retract comments linking her to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In a recent interview, Mr Biden claimed Epstein introduced Mrs Trump to Donald Trump, remarks her lawyer described as “false, defamatory and extremely salacious.” The letter, dated 6 August and addressed to Biden’s lawyer Abbe Lowell, said the first lady suffered “overwhelming financial and reputational harm” as the claims spread on social media and in global media reports.
The Trumps have previously said they met through modelling agent Paolo Zampolli at a 1998 New York Fashion Week party. Mr Biden, citing author Michael Wolff, has refused to apologise, saying: “F*** that — that’s not going to happen.”
The dispute comes amid renewed calls for the White House to release Epstein files, with the Justice Department insisting no incriminating “client list” or blackmail evidence was found.
