Manchester United fans had the highest number of arrests in the 2024-25 season, with 121 incidents, according to new Home Office data. Overall, there were 1,803 football-related arrests in England and Wales, down 12% from the previous year. Nearly half of United’s arrests occurred at Old Trafford. Public disorder (32%) and violent disorder (22%) were the most common offences.
Man City followed with 94 arrests, while West Ham, Chelsea, and Aston Villa rounded out the top five. A United fan also received a three-year banning order for slapping Jack Grealish. West Ham had the most banning orders (112), with United second at 108.
Policing Minister Dame Diana Johnson said, “Police up and down the country work incredibly hard to ensure football stadiums are safe… Today’s statistics show that these efforts are paying off.”
Despite the drop in arrests, match incidents rose 18%, with hate crimes reported at 420 matches—up from 341 last season.
