Police in Niger State have arrested a 23-year-old man, Abdulazeez Abubakar, for allegedly stabbing his friend, Sadiq Sani, 20, to death after a disagreement over sachet water in Minna. The incident occurred along Adamawa Road in the Dutsen-Kura-Hausa area of the state capital.
Eyewitnesses said the argument started over sachet water meant for ablution ahead of the Maghrib prayer and escalated into violence. During the confrontation, Abubakar allegedly used a sharp object to stab Sani, who sustained severe injuries and later died despite efforts to save him.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said: “On 17/12/2025 at about 7.40pm, report indicated that there was a fight at Dutsen-Kura between one Abdulazeez Abubakar, 23yrs, and Sadiq Sani, 20yrs… which led to the death of Sani.” He added that the suspect was arrested and the case is under investigation.
