Makinde renames Ibadan Polytechnic in honor of late Governor Olunloyo

My joy is that our government immortalised and honoured Pa Olunloyo in his lifetime

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has officially renamed The Polytechnic, Ibadan as Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan, in honour of the late former governor, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo.

The announcement was made during a state burial ceremony held on Wednesday, June 26, following Dr. Olunloyo’s death on April 6 at the age of 89. He was the first indigene of Ibadan to serve as governor of old Oyo State in 1983.

Governor Makinde stated, “My joy is that our government immortalised and honoured Pa Olunloyo in his lifetime.” He recalled that Dr. Olunloyo witnessed the naming of the Ibadan Airport Road and a leisure park in Alakia after him while alive.

Makinde also announced plans to digitise the late statesman’s vast personal library and establish a memorial park in his honour. Describing the library as a “treasure trove of knowledge,” he noted, “You practically can find the solution to a whole lot of the challenges governments are facing currently in the library.”
