Makinde approves, Ladoja to be crowned 44th Olubadan Sept. 26

Former Oyo State governor, Rashidi Ladoja, has been approved by Governor Seyi Makinde to be crowned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on September 26, 2025, at Mapo Hall.

The Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, will be crowned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, September 26, 2025. The PUNCH Online exclusively confirmed on Wednesday that Governor Seyi Makinde has approved his nomination.

Investigations revealed that a state delegation earlier met with Ladoja and members of the Olubadan-In-Council at his Bodija residence to finalize preparations.

When contacted, Adeola Oloko, media aide to the 44th Olubadan, confirmed the development, saying, “Oba Ladoja will be enthroned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, September 26, 2025. The ceremony is billed for the ancient Mapo Hall in Ibadan, the state capital.”

It will be recalled that the former governor had met with the kingmakers on Tuesday at his private residence, where the decision was sealed.

The upcoming coronation is expected to draw dignitaries and indigenes from across Yorubaland to celebrate the historic event.
