Major damage to Iran’s nuclear sites fuels fears of a global war

Israel’s airstrikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites on June 13 have caused significant damage, satellite images reveal.

Iran responded with drone attacks, escalating tensions that some fear could trigger World War 3.

Iran’s health ministry reported 224 deaths and 1,277 injuries since the strikes began. Iranian missiles also breached Israel’s Iron Dome, reportedly killing 14 and injuring 200. On June 16, two earthquakes struck Iran: a 2.5 magnitude tremor near the Fordow nuclear facility and a stronger 4.3 quake in Sistan and Baluchestan.

Fordow, known for underground enrichment, was among the targeted sites. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Iran could produce nuclear weapons “within days.”

Ali Vaez of the International Crisis Group told CNN, “The whole [nuclear] supply chain has been disrupted. This chain is now broken, but it could be put back together… This is not a problem that will go away simply with aerial strikes.”

Iran insists its program remains peaceful.
