Carragher, speaking on The Overlap, questioned the logic. “It doesn’t feel like the Liverpool way… they’ve spent a lot of money,” he said. “He [Isak] will be an amazing signing, but… I don’t want Liverpool to spend £150 million on Isak.”

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has voiced concerns over the club’s summer transfer strategy, particularly the pursuit of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. Despite already spending over £250 million—securing Florian Wirtz for £116m and Hugo Ekitike for £79m—Liverpool are still targeting Isak. A £110m bid was rejected, with Newcastle demanding closer to £150m for the Swede, who recently returned to training after going AWOL.

Carragher, speaking on The Overlap, questioned the logic. “It doesn’t feel like the Liverpool way… they’ve spent a lot of money,” he said. “He [Isak] will be an amazing signing, but… I don’t want Liverpool to spend £150 million on Isak.”

He also noted discomfort with the redundancy of signing two high-priced strikers. “Something about it doesn’t feel right… it doesn’t look really planned,” he added.

Fans remain uncertain how both Ekitike and Isak—who have similar profiles—would fit in manager Arne Slot’s lineup, especially with squad balance in mind. Newcastle may need a replacement if Isak departs.
