Liverpool defeat exposes major flaw in Viktor Gyokeres despite Arsenal transfer links

Alan Pardew has voiced concerns over Viktor Gyokeres after the striker endured a quiet outing in Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool, warning that alarm bells should be ringing.

Alan Pardew has warned that Arsenal fans should be worried about Viktor Gyokeres’ early Premier League form after a poor display in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool.

The £63.7million signing was anonymous at Anfield, failing to register a shot, completing just five passes, and managing only 17 touches—the lowest of any starter. His struggles come despite arriving from Sporting Lisbon with a prolific record of 87 goals in two seasons.

Speaking on talkSPORT’s Final Word, Pardew said: “Can I tell you what I’d be concerned about if I was an Arsenal fan? Gyokeres. I’m looking at him thinking: ‘I want a bit more from you.’”

He questioned the striker’s pace and mobility compared to his Coventry days, adding: “When he was at Coventry, he looked quick… today he didn’t. There were times he had to march and didn’t get past the centre-backs.”

Gyokeres has scored only against Leeds and faces mounting pressure to deliver.
