The FG has cut kidney dialysis costs by 76% in federal hospitals, reducing fees to ₦12,000 to improve nationwide patient access.
The Federal Government has reduced the cost of kidney dialysis in federal hospitals nationwide from ₦50,000 to ₦12,000, following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval of a 76 per cent subsidy. The move aims to ease the financial burden on kidney patients and improve access to life-saving treatment.
The announcement was made on Monday by the President’s Special Adviser on Policy Information, Daniel Bwala, who disclosed that the subsidy is already operational in federal medical centres and teaching hospitals across all six geopolitical zones. “These subsidies are now operational in federal medical centres and teaching hospitals in all geopolitical zones,” Bwala said. “More hospitals will be included before the year ends.”
Currently, the reduced dialysis fees are available at facilities including:
Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ebute-Metta, Lagos
Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, Abuja
University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State
Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri, Imo State
University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), Maiduguri, Borno State
Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Ogun State
Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Lagos
Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare, Bauchi State
University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Benin City, Edo State
University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), Calabar, Cross River State
Bwala emphasized that the initiative aligns with the government’s goal of providing affordable healthcare nationwide.
