Renowned evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has died at 80 after over six decades of global ministry.
Renowned Nigerian evangelist and spiritual leader of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has died at the age of 80.
His family confirmed his passing in a statement on Monday, saying he “peacefully transitioned to glory” on October 6, 2025. “He was a faithful soldier of the cross who devoted his life to spreading the gospel with passion and integrity,” the statement read.
Ukpai, often described as a spiritual general and pioneer of faith, spent more than six decades preaching, teaching, and mentoring believers across Nigeria and beyond. His ministry was known for evangelistic campaigns, prophetic teachings, and humanitarian work that transformed lives and strengthened communities.
The family expressed gratitude for his impactful life, saying they rejoice that he has “finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.”
Details of his burial arrangements will be announced later, they added.
