Lagos authorities have referred the controversy over Simi’s resurfaced tweets to police for preliminary investigation amid child protection concerns.
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has referred the controversy surrounding resurfaced tweets allegedly linked to singer Simi to the Commissioner of Police for preliminary investigation. Executive Secretary Lola Vivour-Adeniyi said the agency could not ignore the allegations after old social media posts, reportedly from 2012 to 2014, circulated online and triggered public criticism.
Simi responded that the posts reflected her younger years and experiences helping at her mother’s daycare, insisting they were taken out of context and not written from any improper intent. The agency said the case has been escalated due to safeguarding and child protection concerns, noting that further action would depend on investigations and the presence of any complainant.
