The Lagos state government has dismissed reports alleging a rift between Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, and Dapo Abiodun, his Ogun state counterpart. In a statement issued on Wednesday, Gboyega Akosile, special adviser on media and publicity to the Lagos governor, described the reports as “completely untrue” and the “direct opposite” of the relationship between the two leaders, stressing that they enjoy a cordial and brotherly bond.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Prince Dapo Abiodun and Governor Sanwo-Olu enjoy a very cordial brotherly relationship,” the statement read. Akosile said both governors maintain regular contact and frequently discuss issues of mutual interest, noting that their closeness is reinforced by shared boundaries and socio-cultural ties between Lagos and Ogun states, while urging those “seeking to plant a seed of discord” through “fake news” to desist.
