Lagos director dies in hit-and-run accident days before retirement

A Lagos State director, Serifat Talabi, has died after being hit by a fleeing driver along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, just four days before her 60th birthday and retirement.

A director with the Lagos State Government, Serifat Talabi, died four days before her retirement and 60th birthday after she was hit by a speeding driver along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near the Redemption Camp, Ogun State.

Talabi, who served as Director of Procurement at the Lagos State Resident Registration Agency, was reportedly knocked down while crossing the expressway on Saturday. “She was knocked down by a hit-and-run driver while trying to cross the expressway around the Redemption Camp,” a source said. “Efforts were made to take her to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead.”

She was scheduled to retire on October 13, but postponed the ceremony to October 22 to allow her General Manager to attend. Invitations for the event, which also marked her 60th birthday, had already been sent.

Her burial has been fixed for October 24 in Ibafo, Ogun State. Police authorities were yet to comment on the incident.
