The Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget has refuted claims that ₦4.2bn was budgeted solely for office furniture and microphones in the Deputy Governor’s office, saying the figure represents the total capital allocation for 2026.
The Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget has dismissed reports alleging that ₦4.2bn was proposed in the 2026 budget for the purchase of office furniture and microphones for the Office of the Deputy Governor, describing the claim as a misinterpretation of capital provisions. In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry clarified that the ₦4,247,816,006 allocation referenced in the reports represents the total capital allocation for the Office of the Deputy Governor for the 2026 fiscal year and not an amount solely meant for furniture and microphones.
“The total capital allocation for the Office of the Deputy Governor for Y2026 is ₦4,247,816,006.
“This figure has been incorrectly represented as an allocation solely for the purchase of office furniture and microphones,” the statement partly read.
According to the ministry, ₦4,077,816,006 out of the total capital vote is earmarked for the reconstruction of the Round House complex. “Out of the total capital expenditure of the office, the sum of ₦4,077,816,006 is earmarked for the reconstruction of the Round House complex (This is a 6-story building facility that houses over 50 offices), including structural upgrades, retrofitting works, and the provision of alternative energy infrastructure for the building, amongst others,” the statement added.
