Russian model and television host Kseniya Alexandrova, a former Miss Universe contestant, has died at the age of 30 following complications from a car accident.

Alexandrova, who represented Russia at the 2017 Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas after finishing first runner-up in Miss Russia, was critically injured on July 5 when a car she was riding in collided with an elk on the M9 highway east of Moscow. Her husband told RIA Novosti that “the elk flew into the car. The blow hit Ksyusha in the head. She was unconscious, her head was broken, everything was covered in blood.”

She was treated in Rzhev and later transferred to Moscow, where she fell into a coma. Although she briefly regained consciousness, she relapsed, developed sepsis, and died.

The Miss Universe Organization mourned her as someone whose “grace, beauty, and spirit left an unforgettable mark.” Her modeling agency also described her as “a symbol of beauty, kindness and inner strength.”
