VIDEO: Sunny Ade’s daughter accuses step-brother of abducting singer, making him ‘work under pressure’
Damilola Adeniyi Adegeye, daughter of legendary juju musician King Sunny Ade, has alleged her father is being held against his will by his step-son, Dayo Adegeye.
In a series of Instagram posts, Damilola claimed that the 78-year-old singer has been “kidnapped” by Dayo, whom she identified as his manager, with the assistance of Dayo’s mother, two brothers (Demola and Kenny), and the family’s driver, Ade.
“King Sunny Ade has been kidnapped,” she wrote. “The manager is the culprit along with his mother, brothers (Demola and Kenny), and his driver Ade.”
She further alleged the singer’s current location is unknown and the family has been deliberately misled.
According to Damilola, Dayo is withholding critical information and falsely assuring the family that everyone is aware of the singer’s whereabouts.
Damilola wrote on instagram: “….This has shown me who they are, and these are the ones that my dad is around. But no one knows his whereabouts in the family and everyone is looking for him, yet these guys are not telling us where he is but say everyone knows.”
“Hmmm, very funny. Come read this with me. Real stuff is coming out now!”
Damilola, who resides in the United Kingdom, further alleged that King Sunny Ade is being forced to work under pressure by his manager.
She claimed that although the veteran musician continues to perform, the family is not receiving any financial benefits from his engagements.
Urging Dayo to “let him rest,” she expressed concern over the singer’s wellbeing.
Damilola also appealed to the police for intervention and asked the public to refrain from booking the artist for any events until the situation is resolved.
“King Sunny Ade, my dad, has been kidnapped and is working under duress. Emergency!” she wrote.
“Bro D, stop booking the shows and let him rest, so he can take care of his family. He keeps working, but the family is not seeing the money!
“I need the Nigerian police. My dad, King Sunny Ade, has been kidnapped.
“Please don’t book him now. He is working under duress!”
No official statement has been released by King Sunny Ade or Dayo in response to the allegations.
