Katsina lawmakers approved Governor Radda’s early return from medical leave to tackle rising insecurity.
The Katsina State House of Assembly has approved Governor Dikko Radda’s request to suspend his three-week medical leave following heightened insecurity in parts of the state. Radda had formally commenced leave on August 14 after securing legislative approval. In a statement on Tuesday, Aminu Magaji, chief press secretary to Speaker Nasir Yahaya-Daura, said the governor’s decision was driven by his constitutional duty to ensure citizens’ safety.
“Upon receiving the governor’s request to suspend his leave, the assembly unanimously and graciously approved his return,” Magaji stated. He added that lawmakers praised Radda for prioritizing the state’s welfare over his personal health, describing the move as “a testament to a leadership style that is proactive, compassionate, and relentlessly focused on the people.”
Magaji noted that while on leave, Radda remained engaged in security briefings but felt leadership required his presence at the helm. His return signals an intensified phase of the state’s security strategy.
