Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre says she’s now politically independent and is publishing a memoir detailing dysfunction within the Biden administration.
Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has announced her departure from the Democratic Party and revealed plans to publish a memoir detailing dysfunction in the Biden administration.
Jean-Pierre, 50, served as President Joe Biden’s top spokesperson for nearly three years before stepping down in May. In an Instagram post on Wednesday, she said, “I think we need to stop thinking in boxes and think outside of our boxes, and not be so partisan.”
Her upcoming book, Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines, is set for release on October 21. According to publisher Hachette Book Group, the memoir explores “the betrayal by the Democratic Party” and “the three weeks that led to Biden’s abandoning his bid for a second term.”
“She defines what it means to be part of the growing percentage of our fractured electorate that is Independent,” the synopsis reads.
Jean-Pierre reportedly does not focus her criticism solely on Biden, but on broader party leadership.
