The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a housewife and her six children after armed attackers broke into their home in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Kano. Police said they received a distress call at about 12:10 pm on January 17, 2025, reporting an attack on the residence of Haruna Bashir. The victims were identified as Fatima Abubakar, 35, and her six children, who were allegedly attacked by unknown assailants that forced their way into the house and inflicted fatal injuries using dangerous weapons.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, ordered an immediate deployment of officers to the scene, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, DCP Lawal Isah Mani. The victims were rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where they were confirmed dead. “Bodies were evacuated and rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano, where they were pronounced dead. A team led by ACP Wada Jarma, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was instructed to conduct a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice,” the statement added. The police command also expressed condolences to the victims’ family, residents of Dorayi Chiranchi and the people of Kano State.
