Kano govt debunks viral rumours, says no security threat in state

The Kano State Government has reassured residents that the state remains peaceful and secure following a meeting of the State Security Council with heads of security agencies, dismissing reports of looming threats as unfounded and lacking credible intelligence.

In a statement issued by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa said, “There is no verified intelligence suggesting any imminent or significant threat to public peace in Kano,” while condemning what he described as the spread of fake and sensational security information capable of creating fear and confusion.

He noted that “All security formations have been fully briefed and are operating around the clock. Every part of Kano is under active surveillance and supported by a robust security architecture,” adding that the government is strengthening intelligence gathering and inter-agency cooperation and warning that those who spread false security information would face legal consequences, stressing, “The people of Kano should go about their lawful businesses without fear. Kano is safe, secure, and fully prepared to confront and defeat any threat.”
