The Fuji legend expressed regret but maintained the flask in question contained only water, not alcohol.
Fuji music legend, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has apologised over the August 5 incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, while denying claims he carried alcohol.
In a Friday statement, K1 expressed regret but said the flask in question contained only water.
“Contrary to the negative narrative… the flask contained only water — not alcohol,” he stated, explaining that his doctor advised constant hydration due to chronic dehydration.
K1 said the flask was empty during two security checks and was only filled at the airport lounge before he proceeded to the tarmac. He stressed he had not boarded the aircraft and urged verification via CCTV footage.
The singer apologised to the Presidency, aviation authorities, ValueJet, and Nigerians, insisting he never intended to violate protocols.
“My unwavering patriotism… has never been in doubt,” he added, thanking fans for their support and pledging to continue as a cultural ambassador.
