Johnson in Nigeria reassures investors at Imo summit

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently visited Owerri, Imo State, for the Imo State Economic Summit 2025, declaring he felt “perfectly safe” despite prior security reports. He used the platform, hosted by Governor Hope Uzodimma, to reassure foreign investors about Nigeria’s safety and potential.

Johnson commended Uzodimma’s push for 24-hour electricity using AI. President Bola Tinubu, represented by VP Kashim Shettima, called Africa the next investment destination. Other leaders, including Joseph Boakai of Liberia and Ameenah Gurib-Fakim of Mauritius, highlighted Imo’s readiness for investment.
