APC chieftain Joe Igbokwe has called for Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni to be removed after his tense on-air exchange with Israeli Ambassador Michael Freeman sparked debate online.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Joe Igbokwe, has called on Arise Television to sack anchor Rufai Oseni following a heated exchange with Michael Freeman during a live morning programme. The incident has triggered mixed reactions on social media.
During the interview on the Middle East crisis, Oseni challenged the ambassador over alleged atrocities in Gaza. As the discussion intensified, the journalist interrupted the envoy, saying, “Hang on a minute, let me finish. Do not interrupt me, ambassador. Let me finish.” Clips of the exchange quickly circulated online.
Reacting in a Facebook post, Igbokwe criticised the broadcaster’s conduct, writing, “Rufai is Very rude and unbelievably arrogant. I have asked ARISE TV to remove him.” He added, “He is not a trained journalist. His temperament is very bad, unacceptable and totally unprofessional.” The station has yet to issue an official response.
