Kwankwaso says he was shocked by Governor Abba Yusuf’s defection to the APC, denies any prior arrangement, and insists the NNPP and Kwankwasiyya Movement remain intact.
Former NNPP presidential candidate and Kwankwasiyya leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed shock over Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s defection to the APC, saying “it still feels unreal.” Speaking on BBC Hausa, Kwankwaso dismissed claims of a prior deal, insisting, “There was no agreement, no deal, no prior discussion of that nature.”
Kwankwaso said the reasons Yusuf conveyed were resolvable through dialogue and did not justify abandoning the NNPP’s mandate. He maintained that the party remains stable and predicted regret for those who defected, saying, “Time will reveal the consequences.” He added that the Kwankwasiyya Movement remains strong despite the political fallout.
