Alexander Isak has reportedly informed Newcastle United of his desire to explore a move away this summer, according to the Daily Mail. BBC Sport has contacted the club for comment, with a source confirming Liverpool remain interested in the Swedish striker.
Isak, who netted 27 goals in 42 appearances last season, was omitted from the 30-man pre-season tour squad, with Newcastle stating he “misses out with a minor thigh injury.” He also did not feature in the 4-0 loss to Celtic on Saturday.
Despite the speculation, manager Eddie Howe said, “It’s difficult for me to give 100% clarity on any player,” adding, “Alex is happy at Newcastle. He loves the players he plays with, the staff, the team and I’ve never had any issue with him.”
Newcastle recently lost out on Hugo Ekitike, who joined Liverpool for £69m, despite a £70m bid from the Magpies.
Defender Lewis Hall returns from a foot injury and joins the squad as they head to Singapore, South Korea, and then face Tottenham.
