ICPC opens probe into Dangote’s petition against resigned NMDPRA chief

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed that it will investigate a petition filed by billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote against the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed.

The anti-graft agency said it received the petition on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, through Dangote’s lawyer.

“The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) writes to confirm that it received a formal petition today Tuesday 16th December, 2025, from Alhaji Aliko Dangote through his lawyer,” the commission said. “The petition is against the CEO of the NMDPRA, Alhaji Farouk Ahmed… and will be duly investigated.”

Dangote’s petition accused Ahmed of abuse of office, corruption, and financial impropriety, including alleged spending of millions of dollars on his children’s foreign education.

The petition also urged the ICPC to investigate alleged diversion of public funds and violations of the Code of Conduct, amid broader tensions in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.
