“I wrote my name”: Paralyzed woman uses Musk’s neuralink chip to control computer by thought

MIAMI — A paralyzed woman has become the first female Neuralink recipient to control a computer using only her thoughts, marking a groundbreaking success for Elon Musk’s brain chip implant.

Audrey Crews, 36, who was left quadriplegic after a car crash at 16, shared her joy on X after writing her name for the first time in 20 years. “I tried writing my name for the first time in 20 years. I’m working on it. Lol,” she posted.

The Neuralink chip, implanted at the University of Miami Health Center, allows Crews to move a computer cursor with her mind via Bluetooth. “Just a normal day using telepathy,” she added, showing drawings and messages created through the interface.

Crews said the implant won’t help her walk again, but it gives her back a sense of independence. “Not in all my wildest dreams, but the future is here,” she wrote.

Elon Musk responded: “She is controlling her computer just by thinking.”
