“I won’t dump Labour Party as Obi did” – Baba-Ahmed

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed has pledged to remain with the Labour Party (LP), insisting he will not defect despite recent political realignments. Baba-Ahmed, who was the vice-presidential candidate to Peter Obi in the 2023 elections, made the declaration on Wednesday while addressing journalists at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, following Obi’s exit from the LP to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The former Kaduna North lawmaker said he is not persuaded by the ADC-led coalition, describing its members as “disgruntled politicians.” He added that he remains committed to the Labour Party and would make himself available to contribute to efforts aimed at fixing Nigeria ahead of the 2027 polls.
