Dele Momodu has criticised governors backing President Bola Tinubu, warning that a second term in 2027 could lead to a “full blown dictatorship.”
Former presidential aspirant and publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu, has expressed surprise at the level of support some governors are showing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking during an interview on News Central, Momodu warned that allowing Tinubu to secure a second term could have dire consequences for the country.
DAILY POST reports that several governors elected on opposition platforms have recently defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), with Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State among the latest to join the party. Reacting to the development, Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alleged that the governors were working aggressively to secure Tinubu’s re-election.
“The governors are fighting to ensure Tinubu wins a second term, fighting to be the biggest thug for him. I don’t know what jazz they’ve used on them. What they all forget is that if a man in his first term can capture the bodies and the souls of Nigerians this way, what will he do when he has power for the second term and has no need for anybody? What will then happen is that you have a full blown dictatorship and all the governors will now be at his mercy. They will regret it if he wins a second term as they’ll become total slaves to him,” he said.
