How solo women are using WhatsApp groups to socialize and party

London’s nightlife is finding new life through private WhatsApp groups where mostly women connect to socialize and attend events together. April Winters, a TikTok creator, launched her group, The Feral Rats, to help people whose friends have drifted away. “I thought maybe 20 people would join. I had 300 people join in the first day,” she said. The group now hosts meet-ups and club nights, fostering friendships and a sense of community.

Ell Davies created Ravé at Ells, a women-only community with nearly 500 members, offering a safe space to dance, socialize, and make new friends. Both organizers highlight how these micro-communities counter the atomized, content-focused modern club scene. “Going out solo can be really intimidating, especially if you’re a woman. I just wanted to create a place where it was safe,” said Ell. The groups preserve nightlife culture while encouraging offline connections.
