Ademola Lookman has downplayed reports of a rift with Victor Osimhen following Nigeria’s 4–0 win over Mozambique at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, insisting the on-field disagreement was nothing more than a football moment. The Super Eagles cruised into the quarter-finals with Osimhen netting a brace, while Lookman and Akor Adams completed the rout, though a brief second-half exchange between the two forwards drew attention before teammates stepped in.
Addressing the incident after the match, Lookman stressed there was no bad blood, describing Osimhen as a key figure in the team. “Vic is our number one guy, everybody knows this. He’s a top striker,” he said. “It’s just football. He is my brother,” the Atalanta forward added, dismissing suggestions of any fallout between them.
