Four children were killed in a reprisal attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Foron District of Plateau State’s Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, following alleged cattle rustling, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama. The attack reportedly occurred on Thursday after local militias opened fire on herders and stole cows.
The victims were identified as Precious Joshuah, 17; Isaac Joshuah, 9; Mary Joshuah, 7; and Eve Sambo, 3. Makama said the killings came less than 48 hours after coordinated attacks on pastoral communities in Barkin Ladi, Jos East Local Government Area and Riyom Local Government Area, where at least 168 cattle were rustled or poisoned.
“On Wednesday evening, militia from Plateau rustled 137 cattle around Nding community… while another 34 cattle were driven away from Kukukah community,” Makama wrote. A community leader said tensions had risen and reprisals were feared. Security forces have been deployed to restore calm and prevent further escalation.
